A Fábrica do Nada - Exposição

 

A Primeira ARTE Atelier & Gallery apresenta:

"Fábrica do Nada" - uma exposição colectiva de Zana e Natália Alves, com muita música à mistura, showcase de ORTEUM & Tilt com o EP ACC/CDM, e ainda live painting com os writers Diker e Arte Cavalheiro - Styler.

 

Natália Alves nasceu no Porto, estudou em Coimbra e vive em Lisboa. Viaja sempre à boleia de livros. É produtora de teatro a tempo inteiro. Nos intervalos escreve histórias sobre tudo, mas dedica-se principalmente a escrever sobre o nada.

Zana é também Susana de Campos Moraes, ilustradora e artista plástica, residente em Lisboa. Formou-se em Design e Cultura Visual, orientando também, a sua formação na área da Arte Terapia e Dança. Realiza vários projectos e parcerias relacionadas com as artes, exposições, faz desenhos para tatuagens, pinta paredes e continua na área do ensino.

Um encontro casual entre Zana e Natália Alves, surgido do nada, traçou não só o início de uma amizade, como também o início de uma viagem conjunta entre palavras, contos e cores. Assim, a “Fábrica do Nada” passou de caracteres num ficheiro do computador de Natália, para os pincéis de Zana, que reconstruiu, recriou, reescreveu e deu vida e cara a Matilde, uma protagonista desordenada e enclausurada dentro de si mesma na "Fábrica do Nada".

Outside In - Doc.

Outside In é um documentário histórico sobre as artes de rua através do olhar da exposição "Art In The Streets", que ocorreu no Museu de Arte Contemporânea (Moca) em Los Angeles, em 2011. O filme apresenta artistas de renome como Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper, e Invader, entre muito outros. O realizador Alex Stapleton (Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documenta o processo criativo dos artistas, assim como os seus problemas com a lei, a efemeridade poética da sua arte e a evolução dos artistas que antes estavam no banco de trás de um carro da polícia, e agora estão nas paredes de uma conceituada instituição.

 

 

 

 

Outside In is a celebratory and historical look at street art through the lens of the Museum of Contemporary Art's (Moca) groundbreaking exhibition "Art in the Streets" in 2011. The film features renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper, and Invader to name a few. Director Alex Stapleton (Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documents the artist's creative process, their pitfalls with the law, the poetic impermanence of their craft and the artists' evolution from the back seat of a cop car to the walls of a well-respected institution.

Assente no trabalho de figuração simples acerca do "ir" e do impeto da deslocação, Pantónio apresenta a sua exposição indivual "Ir", no Espaço 108, de 23 de Fevereiro a 3 de Março de 2013.

A inauguração acontece no dia 23 de Fevereiro, sábado, a partir das 21horas no Nº 108 da Rua das Janelas Verdes, em Lisboa, numa ex-escola e ex-palácio onde vários criativos desenvolvem o seu trabalho.

 

Designer gráfico de profissão, Pantónio também se dedica à ilustração e a fazer intervenções na rua, procurando nos seus trabalhos pictóricos a mesma força contida nas rochas negras da sua ilha natal, os Açores, e a luz cortante através do seu traço desenhado.

A exposição Walktrough a Story acontece de 22 de Fevereiro a 30 de Março de 2013 na Galeria António Prates.

Mello Diorama - a solo exhibition by Sickboy

 

Shooting Gallery Project Space is pleased to present Mello Diorama from UK-artist Sickboy. The exhibition will feature four original paintings, framed sketches, and a special unique multiple edition on paper made specifically for the show, with hand-painted fills (unique multiples), edition of 10. The exhibition is free and open to the public for viewing through March 2nd, 2013.

With 2012’s Wonder Club, the artists’ first major US solo show, Sickboy gave San Francisco a look inside an elaborate dream world. Mello Diorama aims to evoke a similar lucid dream experience with influences drawn from the legacy of San Francisco’s underground comic scene. An animated diorama created with elements taken from Sickboy’s paintings will fill most of the space, giving viewers a surreal look at the cycle of life and death.

A leading artist to emerge from Bristol’s infamous graffiti scene, Sickboy’s humorous work has cemented his place in the upper echelons of the British street art movement. He is one of the first UK artists to use a logo in place of a tag, and his red and yellow street logo known as 'The Temple' can be seen on walls and wheelie bins worldwide. Sickboy has built up one of the largest bodies of street art works in UK history. His work hit the big screen recently in Banksy’s Oscar-nominated film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, His temples, slogans and audacious stunts – including the caged heart installation dropped outside the Tate Modern in 2008 – have landed him global recognition.

BUKRUK - Street Art Festival in Bangkok - Coming Up!

Organizado por três galerias de arte locais: The Toot Young Gallery, Nemo Studio e a BKK Arthouse, o Bukruk Street Art Festival é a primeira iniciativa, em larga escala, de colaboração entre a Europa e a Tailândia no domínio da Street Art.
O evento acontece na capital tailandesa entre os dias 16 de fevereiro e 17 de março de 2013, e integram este projeto 11 artistas tailandeses e 15 artistas europeus, entre eles os ilustradores/designers gráficos portugueses Akacorleone e Kruella D’Enfer.
Durante um mês, as pinturas murais vão ser a grande atração desta primeira edição do Bukruk Street Art Festival que, apresenta ainda hip hop battles, demonstrações de parcour e cerca de 400m2 de espaço de exposição no Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) onde, para além das mostras de design, serão também projetados vídeos documentando as intervenções artísticas nas ruas.

The Bukruk Street Art Festival is the first large-scale collaboration between Europe and Thailand in the field of street art.
Organized by three local art galleries: The Toot Young Gallery, Studio Nemo and BKK Arthouse, the event takes place in Bangkok from February 16th until March 17th 2013.

11 Thai artists will work jointly with 15 European artists, including the Portuguese illustrators / graphic designers Akacorleone and Kruella D'Enfer.
The murals will be the major attraction during this first edition of Bukruk Street Art Festival which also features hip hop battles, free running performance and 400m2 of exhibition space provided by the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC).

"Tilt is an internationally recognised traditional graffiti artist, originating from Toulouse in South France. Tilt is a self declared "graffiti fetishist" who loves demonstrating that basic, primitive graffiti can be as strong as complicated 3D lettering, wildstyles and characters. His focus on fun, high impact shapes and strong colours is a reflection of his history as a true graffiti writer, trained on the streets and in the train yards. Similarly, his extensive use of bubbly, curvaceous forms relates to his obsession with beautiful females.
Following classic hip-hop graffiti ideology, his individual styled name is the focal point in the majority of his paintings, in Tilt's case a bubble letter "throw-up". "Throw-Up" is graf terminology for a writer's spraypainted name incorporating fast lines and done in one or two colours, designed for fast execution; it is the action which Tilt is most interested in, thus he utilises his throw-up styles to visually communicate the fun of creating graffiti in risky situations."

'There is one in all of us'

Na obra seminal de 1963, "Onde vivem os monstros" de Maurice Sendak, Max é uma criança de nove anos com uma imaginação prodigiosa. Num certo dia de Inverno, Max, aborrecido, revolta-se contra a mãe e a irmã e decide fugir de casa. Correndo sem parar e sem olhar para trás, o pequeno Max atravessa o mar no seu pequeno barco à vela, enfrenta grandes tormentas até que, finalmente, desembarca na ilha dos monstros, com os quais passará a viver. A ilha é como um lugar de sonho feito de elementos familiares como as dunas de areia ou as florestas de palmeiras. Quanto aos monstros, as suas intenções são sempre dúbias. Nunca sabemos se eles querem adoptar Max e torná-lo no seu rei ou simplesmente devorá-lo ao jantar...

 

Centrada na construção de um imaginário próprio e peculiar, a obra de Gonçalo MAR (n. 1974 Lisboa) mistura elementos do universo da banda desenhada e da animação com alguns elementos da cultura japonesa ou outros mais ligados aos códigos da streetart. Os personagens centrais multicoloridos são envoltos numa aura surreal, mostrados em situações que parecem saídas de um sonho, revestidos de um lirismo sem paralelo neste tipo de manifestação artística em Portugal. Na parede de um edifício, pode haver um personagem gigante convidando o observador a sair da rotina e sonhar. No entanto, a obra de Gonçalo MAR não se reduz apenas ao graffiti ou à streetart. O nível de elaboração, a obsessão pelo desenho e a riqueza dos detalhes transferem-se também para as telas e para as instalações oníricas que cria e que incorporam madeira, cartão e outros materiais "reciclados". Nas paredes de uma galeria de arte, estas constituem-se como a continuação e extensão do seu cosmos tão particular.

'There is one in all of us'

In Maurice Sendak's classic 1963 book "Where the wild things are", Max is a nine year old boy with a prodigious imagination. On a certain winter day, Max gets upset and decides to run away from home. Running without ever looking back, little Max crosses the ocean in his sail boat, faces great dangers until finally coming ashore on the island of monsters. The island is a dreamlike place made of familiar elements like the sand dunes or the palm tree forest. As for the monsters, you never really know if they want to adopt Max and make him his king, or just have him for dinner....

Centered around the construction of its own peculiar universe, the work of Gonçalo MAR (b.1974 Lisbon) mixes elements from comics and animation with elements of Japanese traditional culture as well as others which are closer to the street art codes. His colorful central characters are immersed in a surreal aura, shown in dreamlike situations with an unparalleled lyricism for this artistic manifestation in Portugal. On the huge wall of an old building there can be a giant character inviting you to leave the routine and dream. The work of Gonçalo MAR however does not limit itself to graffiti or street art. The level of complexity, the obsession with drawing, the richness of the details are also transferred to the canvases and the oneiric installations that he creates and that incorporate wood, cardboard or other "recycled" materials. On the walls of an art gallery, these become the continuation and extension of his particular cosmos.

Entramos pela sua mão num quarto dos fundos, numa sala de espera ou num estúdio obscuro para descobrir as subtilezas que as luzes da ribalta ofuscariam impiedosamente segundos mais tarde.
Zamith pinta torto sobre linhas direitas, é um pintor-prestigiador que conta a História como muito bem lhe apetece, o que pode dever tanto ao “realismo” de Magritte como à manipulação de Orson Welles em F for Fake. Depois de passarem pela mise-en-scéne zamithiana, estas personagens resultam mais humanas, assim, com agá pequeno. E então a História rescrita parece-nos outra, mais tortuosa, com mais falhas, e por isso mais verdadeira, o que merece certamente um sinuoso sorriso."

 A Known Gallery orgulha-se de apresentar a exposição "In Other Words", de PUSH.

Com raízes na cena do graffiti de Los Angeles, PUSH é um mais requisitados muralistas e designers cujo trabalho foi crescendo na rua, evoluindo para murais de grande escala.
Para esta exposição, PUSH cria mosaicos geométricos. Figuras triangulares preenchidas com cores fortes e vibrantes são caoticamente alinhadas com toques suaves e monocromáticos, criando assim contrastes impressionantes. O resultado é um conjunto de pinturas complexas, repletas de energia que, simultaneamente, oferecem serenidade.

Shepard Fairey presents Obey, Sound & Vision, his first London solo exhibition in 5 years.
The show opening at StolenSpace Gallery on October 19th will feature a range of new works including mixed media paintings on canvas, works on paper, retired stencils collages, rubylith cuts, and as well as serigraphs on wood, metal and paper, and will also incorporate a diverse array of mixed media works, which embody both the political and social influences on Fairey's work, particularly that which are directly inspired by music.

Sound & Vision, the exhibition title is taken from the David Bowie song of the same name, will be held across 2 spaces, the permanent StolenSpace gallery and The Loading Bay on Dray Walk from October 19 through November 4th, 2012.
